Alcohol

What are peoples opinions on alcohol? Does anyone stay away from it for long periods or even completely avoid it?

I think there is consensus that heavy (4+ drinks) drinking sessions are simply no good, however I have found that there are a lot of opinions as to whether low consumption is bad for you, with a lot of people even saying its good for you.
Even Dr Oz is a fan of a glass or 2 of red wine, but for me, I figure the benefits (relaxing, antioxidants etc) can be achieved with diet and exercise and now tend to steer well clear of it.
That and you tend to not have embarrassing photos put up on facebook when you hit it a bit to hard......

Don't touch the stuff personally but don't hold anything against those that do. I think if you're trying to train hard then getting hammered frequently might not be the best idea but if it helps people get loose sometimes and relax then whatever floats your boat. I can get loose as without it so I'm lucky in that sense haha.

I used to be a bit of a drinker well only in phases and not really a drinker like every night but just a typical binge drinker like most people go through. I used to drink a little when I lived on the Gold Coast as work was so crap and not knowing anyone me mate and I really looked forward to getting tanked and riding the pushies blind up to Surfers. WOW times have changed. I have not be drunk now for nearly three years and when I say drunk I can say that in the last 3 years I may have had 3-4 drinks total. I just don't like the taste, don't like the hang overs and it is a waste of money. You may as well just get your money and through it down the toilet!!!

So for me drinking is a no.I only went through a small drinking phase. The whole time I lived in Sydney I barely had a drink didn't drink at my 18th or 21st birthday boring I know but hey I don't really like the stuff.

That's funny! I distinctly remember you sculling in record time a jug at your 21st then promptly bringing it all back up again. And the last time was probably 4 years ago when the grass on someones front lawn was killed after a mad dash outside, hand over mouth, to deposit the whole alcohol stash mixed together, that had been all drunk in about half an hour together with the chinese meal that had been consumed (lawn still not fully recovered)

Yeah but at my 21st that was all I drank and I spewed it all back up straight back into the jug!!! I didn't drink anything else that night because of footy the next day. And the sick on the yard was in 2004 when I graduated from Uni. Chinese didn't taste so great on the way back up.

Unlike most here I'm very interested in alcohol however I'm not a big drinker. I'm an avid brewer, have beer on tap at home and even grew my own hops this year which went into my mid-strength koelsch. I enjoy wine (mainly reds) and good beer, not megaswill.

99% of the time, when I drink it will be 1-2 drinks. Some weeks I'll have a total of 3 drinks in a week. Other weeks I won't have drunk at all. If a special event, I'll drink more. My 21st I had 2 drinks and prior to that had been off alcohol for 3 months.

Like most I've had a few binge horror stories but it has been quite a long while since the last.
