Coast to Kosciusko runners/crew

Postby Rob » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:50 pm

As mentioned last week I had a sudden urge to push my body beyond it's normal limits. As I will not be ready for the qualifiers for CrossFit games because of a busted shoulder I thought for some reason it would be awesome to attempt Australia's longest ultra marathon with nothing but CrossFit training.

I have 2 other people just as insane as me who will run the full distance (hopefully) Dieter Roose and Andy Pye. The idea is NOT to race each other but to help each other through the tough stages and feed off each other mentally to get us ALL across the line. If there are any other runners keen on running this please let us know.

It is compulsory to have a team/safety can with the runners. The CREW are responsible for helping the runners. Stuff like food, hydration, moral support. Alot of crews will actually rotate through each other and run sections of 5 or 10km with the athlete competing. So far we have john's cousin Aaron, John S, Adrian M, Dan T and Bow P who would like to come in support. The more people the merrier as this is going to be tough as!!!!!

Check out details of the run here http://www.coast2kosci.com/enter.html# you can find info for the runners/crew also info on entry, clothing, camping etc.

I'll be more than happy to help you boys out on this ultramarathon. Put me down as a crew member.

How many crew do you guys need? I'm keen but I'm a bit concerned about getting time off work - should hopefully be ok will find out next week.

So who is definitely available to help out and how many are needed? People need to commit!

O.k guys it is rme to get serious about this run. So far I have John Sewerle as the ONLY definate for the trip down south.

The run starts ar 0530 on Friday the 11th December and concludes on Sunday the 13h at 0530 on top of mt Kosciusko. I will be taking leave from University work on the Wednesday and travelling down to arrive on Wednesday afternoon the 9th. That means for the Uni guys you shouldn't have a problem but those wanting to come who have work you will need leave for Wednesday Thursday and Friday. We will be back on Sunday afternoon or evening ready for wods and work on Monday

if you are still keen to crew lease express so here. Our departure is less than a month way and we need doers not talkers for this road trip.

I'll be looking for accommodation this week. Let's get it on

BAD NEWS!!

The run is off. Due to my lack of experience of long runs....... apparently my "other work" wasn't stressful enough or taxing on the body I am not allowed to enter in the Coast to Kosci run. I have to run 3 100km races before I can enter.

Original thoughts was to go down and run with them all unofficially and say F$%k YOU but I think I'll just wait till next year. I will do a 100km in April then the North face 100 and the Oxfam with a CrossFit Team. Dieter is keen as mustard.

Sorry guys/girls!

Probably best to get your calf and shoulder back to 100% anyway...

I'm keen for ultra's once i get my leg issues under control. First - run the great nth walk soon.
