Same goes for drinking.

STOP DRINKING THEM NOW.....

There goes beer and scotch among others....

Since being nearly entirely paleo, have never felt better.

Good enough read. I think I eat fairly Paleo now... except for the copious amounts of milk and peanut butter? :P

But they're not grains right haha. I don't eat bread really, I won't be eating wraps now that Dan has told me about subway "salad" option...

I do eat broccoli and carrots and vegetables like that though...
Do now what others don't,
So later on you will have what others won't.

I'm still not convinced of all this paleo shit. I seen real life paleo men and what they consume is not always heathly, infact quite often they have malnutrition injuries. while some of his lessons are good such as staying away from overly processed food and looking for the best quality foods, im still not convinced.

Can you point out some specific examples of these malnourished men? Reason I ask is that no paleo proponent would ever let someone following that approach to nutrition (or any approach to nutrition) become malnourished. Its counter-intuitive at best. Eat this to be healthy but become malnourished instead....

Im sure there are those sort of people in every diet. Its all about testing and adjusting (or weighing and measuring with the zone).

Robb Wolf states that this diet in its organic form will work great for about 80-90% of people, with the remainder needing some further refinement.
Adrian alludes to this with the multiple sclerosis and night shade plants comment.

When it comes to the zone, I can understand the theory behind it, but from an evolutionary viewpoint, I doubt we had equal access to macro nutrients very often, where as the paleo approach pretty much is about mixing it up, eating whats available etc.

What I dont like about the zone is that food quality is not promoted. You can eat grain, there are even McDonalds zone meals. That to me is enough to discard it as an approach.

In saying that, I try and have all 3 macro nutrients with every meal and snack, just paleo foods. I dont weigh and measure. Pain in the butt.

I love nuts, meat, veges, fruit, salads etc. Its easy to follow for me at least. Its also the crossfit diet prescription.

Then again do what works for you. I do recall you rocking up to the "Intruder challenge" we had, after a night on the turps, with coffee in hand. Late. Starting the workout, spewing the coffee up, finishing the workout, and beating everyone apart from Rob.

My point of view is that good nutrition expoits foods to assist you to reach your genetic potential. We know what we want to achieve; increased muscle mass, with minimal body fat, optimin blood pressure, neuromusclar resposes etc. etc.

By just picking a type of food and saying you can eat as much of if as you want doesn't make much sence. for example if you eat a 500 gram steak (grass fed beef) its a paleo meal but we know the excess protien will turn to fat not ideal. I could go on but while not defending the zone's permission of poor food choice, i will quote from a cf journal interview of barry sears "people extremist in nature", as I can pick holes in the paleo diet you can find holes in the zone diet at an extreme point. but i think that misses the point. zone diet does infact have favouable and unfavourable foods, guesswhere maccas is. To quote barry sears "a strict zone diet is a paleo diet" so whats the arguement???

Agree with everything you said.
Why are we arguing? We are not.
I was merely concerned that you seemed to be looking at a malnourished individual(s) who goes "paleo" and blame "paleo".

Concerned because you have this awesome specimen who goes paleo to compare it to......ok look at Rob instead.
(hang on, was it me you were referring to when you said malnourished?)

Your right, I have seen Seers say the best quality approach is paleo.
