http://www.thepaleodiet.com/nutritional ... acid.shtml - acid/base balance

scroll down and have a look at what the renal load number is on the egg yolk..

Both Paleo and Zone are purported to be anti-inflammatory diets. Tomatoes and capsicum and stuff (nightshades) sometimes get removed too if people are really experiencing bad effects from inflammation. Paleo trys to limit egg consumption for this reason I think (could be wrong)

On another angle;

http://www.krispin.com/lectin.html - if you have time to kill... lectins do bad stuff to your body, just scroll down and look at all the things that have been seen to improve after removing grains, dairy, legumes etc. pretty much exactly what Cordain says.
“If you always put a limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee

wow, adrian, some facinating shit. I saw a chiro/naturapath(spelling) when i was a teenager complaining of knee pain and he told me I was acidic. Well what he actually said was " Your yellow mate! and I'm asian!". He told me to avoid a list of acidic foods among the worst was mango's, chutnee, tomatoes, beer and orange juice. He also told me eat protien for breakfast and to achieve this I should combine amino-acids in foods and he gave a list different foods that would achieve this, one i remenber is combining legumes with grains, such as some peanuts with your wheat-bix, or baked beans on toast. he also suggested i take a glass of ural a night (its basicly bicarb soda, and also used to treat urinary tract infections so the chick at the chemist will look at you funny.) and drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day. He also told me to take Q10 because it is an enzyme that is necessary in muscle production.

I made the changes and they seemed to work.

While I wouldn't eat those shit foods today, I find it funny that he was promoting a high protien, low acid diet 15 years ago ;)

Hmmm Adrian is always posting stuff from Marks Daily Apple which is now in my favourites list.... Stumbled across this as i remember it being mentioned in this thread... i like it because i liek egg yolks hehehe. Although i do note that someone mentioned that making sure you look after your omega 3 intake kind of negates effect.
