Weight lifting certification course

Postby Rob » Sun Dec 20, 2009 9:24 pm

This weekend CrossFit Norwest hosted an Olympic lifting certification care of CrossFit Active who do not have a training facility yet. This certification course was run by The Australian Weightlifting Federation. I spoke with the coach and he is keen to run another cert from CrossFit Norwest. The cert will actually qualify you as an Olympic Lifting coach, however if interested we can pretty much dictate what we'd like to learn. For the coaching course you do 2 full days of intsruction both theory and practical and critic others. The cert of course will be open to EVERYONE from ALL gyms including the globo gym types which unfortunately were the major component of the cert held this weekend.

So this thing will happen regardless. For the coaching cert it is 600 for the 2 days with all equipment and notes provided. This will also cover you with insurance in case you are injured in the future to allow upto 1200 paid to you from the the federation to pay for treatment if you pass the course and a qualified instructor.

This will likely be late Jan or early feb

Rob,

Do you know if this course is recognised by Fitness Australia?

Good Morning Rob

Thanks for your email. The program evaluations were excellent with 19 of the 20 participants ranking the quality of the content and presentations at the highest score of 5. Seven participants gave a scores of 1 & 2 for the venue suitability (I believe these scores relate to data projection on walls and lack of chairs rather than gym and equipment which to me worked out just fine) and refreshments, these areas could be enhanced with forward planning.

Please refer to the attached 2010 CEP Calendar, as you can see a CEP is scheduled to take place in NSW on 20-21 February, 2010, does this date suit you? If so we could run the program at Castle Hill. Do you envisage running a stand alone CEP for your own clients? If so this can be arranged.

The CEP fee is $600 per person and we normally limit the group to 20 persons. The AWF contributes $300 toward the venue and $200 toward refreshments and also supplies polo shirts, manuals and assessment material. The fee also covers 15 CEC points with Fitness Australia, capitation with the AWF, insurance cover for weightlifting activity and National Coaching Scheme Accreditation

I trust this information is suffice. Happy to expand on points, please give me call or drop me another email.

Wishing your good self and loved ones a safe, happy Christmas and a healthy, exciting and prosperous New Year, and one in which we can hopefully do some work together.

Cheers
