Yeah my goon of a GP (let's not talk about GP's here ) took just the usual no frills test and didn't even break it down to LDL/HDL so VLDL is a mystery as well but it's been something of an issue for me in the past. My plan is to go get tested again in the next couple of weeks since I have been eating P/PZ and excercising regularly. The abnormally high chol may have been due to inflamation - slight increase in liver enzymes on my bloodwork?

See my problem with this is I want to follow a single set of advice and Rob suggested Paleo zone so will discuss again tonight with him on the way ahead - although it messes with my head and makes me feel like I have OCD I don't want to chop and change paleo/paleo zone back to paleo as the change is going to ensure I just wheelspin...

I do see your point about IF causing issues for some and it may or may not be right for everyone for me the benefits are more time-saving, physchological and general compliance as once you make it past the hump then you are gorging yourself :-)

What cholesterol number are you using. Paleo prescription is to only be concerned with the VLDL number (NOT LDL OR HDL). Robs own cho figures went through the roof according to conventional wisdom, until I showed him the literature related to VLDL. So lets be sure we are not chasing our tails here. Go get that test done (your doctor will fight you - be firm). Your not going to have cholesterol problems if you remove inflammatory foods from your diet completely (not 80% removal, 100%). Inflammatory foods include all grains, and refined sugar. You know this.

Second, I would still like to see a solid month of unweighed unmeasured paleo under your belt, with no slipups, and at 100%. Then we would have an idea of whats starting to work for you and when things are not.

IF can be so dangerous, so many factors can turn it from a beneficial tweak into a spiralling out of control disaster (eg sleep, stress, cortisol, diet, training etc) hence why its only experimented with by people who have all their ducks in a row.

When I see Bec posting here and having all these issues, I would say its definately not for her at this stage (henced why I asked her why she was doing it). You on the other hand, pause for a month, get your diet 100%, rule out anything else that could be causing an issue, then lets tweak it in a way that works for you (eg how your doing it now which isnt a strict IF but close enough). In doing so I would want to see the same nutrients and calories going into your body each day! That is a proper IF. IF is not prescribed as a weight loss measure but a fine tuning measure.
