From Power to Squat: Progressing to Full Lifts

While many lifters believe transitioning from power cleans and power snatches to the full versions of these movements is going to be difficult, this is actually not the case. The key is to perform the lift as usual, however get under the bar fast into the front squat position under a dynamic load.

The Deadlift for CrossFitters

In the November 2006 issue of CrossFit Journal, Mark Rippetoe published, “A New, Rather Long Analysis of the Deadlift.” He concluded this breakthrough article by identifying three criteria for a correct deadlift starting position:

 

  • The back must be locked in extension.
  • The bar must be touching the shins with the feet flat on the floor.
  • The shoulders must be out in front of the bar so that the shoulder blades are directly above the bar.

Rowing in CrossFit

Previously we've looked at Rowing technique, something which can make or break a workout. If you’ve started to consider rowing a beneficial part of your weekly output it’s unavoidable that you’ll want to pull a 2km test to establish a baseline of your fitness. Today we look at the 2km row as the gold standard for speed and anaerobic fitness.

CrossFits obsession with numbers

CrossFit- The sport of fitness, the elite of the elite, every second counts but in general, form and safety probably doesn't. If you attend a CrossFit gym/box hopefully your trainer monitors and corrects your technique. BUT if you are one of those monkeys who takes their video camera to fitness first then form and technique is probably last on your mind and your a number chaser........... right???
