RAW Power WOD is a specifically designed strength and conditioning programmed tailored to the athlete training for power sports. Examples of power sports can range from Powerlifting and Strongman to contact sports such as Rugby, Gridiron and even stretched further to sports needing speed, strength and agility like Basketball, Volley Ball and track and field.

 

The program has a basic structure that blends strength and power with conditioning. Depending on your goals, your sport and your available time the basic structure is moulded to your needs. Powerlifters will utilise the bands, chains, sleds and boxes whilst strongman transfer basic barbell skills to logs, stones with yokes and farmers carry. The basketballers and rugby athletes work on change of direction, trunk and torso power with skills. The focus of the general program is absolute strength in heavy low rep lifting with aggressive powerful Olympic lifts like the clean and jerk and snatch with variants.

 

Although each individual sport is different the fundamentals of strength, power and conditioning transfer to multiple sports. The difference between normal programs and the  RAW Power WOD, is RAW focuses the workouts with your competitive season in mind. As mentioned the strength and power gains will transfer to all sports however as your competitive season approaches the program will change to have a more specific outcome.
